This drawing was done for MSA Design in Naples, Florida. It is a paver drawing for three outdoor areas which pushed my hardware to its limit. I used the WildTools Linear Patterning Tool exclusively to do this. The backend work was actually simple, a series of paths that the brick would follow, using circles and polygons. The hardest part was fine-tuning the setting in the Linear Patterning tool. Once that was done, it distributed the bricks perfectly, in linear and non-linear situations. I did a portion of this on a G4 Powerbook with 2GB RAM, in our van while my wife was driving during a summer road trip. |

This is a plaza in Florida a streetscape. I drew three bricks in a horizontal row, and then used the centerline of the bricks to pick these up with the Linear Patterning tool. Then I used the tool to place a row of bricks at a time. There are overlapping layers, so this created the illusion that the bricks are cut to fit each other. The calculations above are for the area, not the number of bricks! |

Another part of the plaza. |

All this from three bricks. |

And you wouldn't want to leave out the drainage grate details. |
